Project Overview
I personally got bored of searching for the wrexham.com app on my phone when anything happened locally in Wrexham. One Sunday I had two hours of spare time so I just made the iOS app in Swift 5 which scrapes the wrexham.com homepage, adds each story to a UITableView and displays it for the user. The native app is much quicker to open and does not display adverts when browsing for stories.
I have then gone one step further and have a google cloud scheduled task scrape the site every 5 minutes looking for new stories. I have a set of keywords that if it finds will push out a notification to all users.
I have offered this app for free to wrexham.com but have had no response so it is used by my friends and family only.
